Voluntary Sector Locality Network Meetings - Throughout North Lanarkshire - 19 August 2010

Voluntary Action North Lanarkshire (VANL) is a new organisation, launched in April 2010 to support the needs of the voluntary and volunteering sectors in North Lanarkshire.

During August - September 2010 VANL is hosting six Voluntary Sector Locality Networks across North Lanarkshire for volunteers and voluntary sector organisations to come together to share key information.

If you are a volunteer or paid member of staff in a local voluntary organisation, and feel you would benefit from coming together with other volunteers and organisations to discuss key issues affecting voluntary action in your town then these meetings may be beneficial to you. 

Motherwell Area - Thursday 19th August 2010, 9.30am-12noon, The Bentley Hotel, 19 High Road, Motherwell, ML1 3HU

Airdrie Area - Tuesday 24th August 2010, 9.30am-12noon, Tudor Hotel, 39 Alexander Street, Airdrie, ML6 0BA

Wishaw & Shotts Area - Thursday 2nd September 2010, 9.30am-12noon, Voluntary Action Community Hub (former church building), Kenilworth Avenue, Wishaw, ML2 7LP

Bellshill Area - Friday 3rd September 2010, 1.30pm-4.00pm, Bellshill Cultural Centre, John Street, Bellshill, ML4 1RJ

Cumbernauld and North Area - Thursday 9th September 2010, 9.30am-12noon, Cornerstone House, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship, 1 Esk Walk, Town Centre, Cumbernauld, G67 1EW

Coatbridge Area - Wednesday 15th September 2010, 1.30pm-4.00pm, St Patrick's Church Hall, St John Street, Coatbridge, ML5 3HB

Free Zumba Fitness Classes - St Pats Church Hall, Craigneuk - 1 September 2010

Free Zumba classes for people who are not in employment and live in the following areas: Craigneuk, Wishawhill, Muirhouse, Netherton, Pather, Gowkthrapple, Coltness and Cleland.

Every Wednesday from 4-5pm in St Pats Church Hall, Shieldmuir Street, Craigneuk.

Aisha Jamal, 20, from Wishaw, had been out of work for over a year.  With help from North Lanarkshire's Working and Jobcentre Plus she has now secured a job with contact centre services company beCogent.

Kicking unemployment is the goal at Motherwell Football Club

A group of Lanarkshire families have spent their summer getting ready to give unemployment the red card with the help of Motherwell Football Club.

A training programme called Fit for Your Family's Future was launched by North Lanarkshire's Working in partnership with the club on 20th July.
