Unemployed people in Motherwell will be encouraged to take the first steps back into work when a skills roadshow stops off in town on Monday (August 11).
The roadshow is part of a series of local visits organised by Lanarkshire’s Working which aim to help unemployed people gain the experience and confidence to succeed in the job market..
The roadshow’s helpful staff will be prepared to answer any employment-related questions. Visitors will be able to find out more information about how they can improve their chances of getting a job and think about starting a new life.
The Lanarkshire’s Working project offers local people access to a range of free skills workshops and employment projects which can help them find suitable work.
The range of workshops available includes classes on topics such as written and verbal communication and computer skills . Personal development courses are also available, giving unemployed people the opportunity to broaden their horizons. These include workshops on vocational skills in areas such as retail and DIY, work placement programmes and “taster courses” to allow people to try a selection of different activities.
Lynn Gow, engagement officer for Lanarkshire’s Working, said: “People can have all sorts of concerns about entering employment, and these roadshows are the ideal way for them to have their questions answered by a friendly face.
“Very often, people have more opportunities to find employment than they might realise, and Lanarkshire’s Working is here to help them unlock their potential.”
The roadshow will be visiting five locations across Lanarkshire next week:
Monday 11th August: Brandon Parade, Motherwell Town Centre
Tuesday 12th August: Pedestrian Precinct at St Patrick’s Chapel, Coatbridge
Wednesday 13th August: Outside Boots Chemist, Airdrie Town Centre
Thursday 14th August: Tesco Car Park, Cumbernauld
Friday 15th August: Outside Wishaw Library, Wishaw
All of the roadshows will start at 10am and finish at 4pm.
