CUSTOMER TRAINING SURVEY 2008 - 2009
Every year we ask participants what they think of our training programmes. We ask how we can improve the choices available to participants, with regard to what is actually available and how this is accessible. Below are some requests we have received from customers with details of how these will be progressed or an explanation of why we are unable to make changes at this time.
Question
Could you include a work placement in the Personal Development Programme?
Answer
A work placement is included in stage two of the training provision. We understand the benefit of a work placement and this important element is included in the Placement Programme and in our customised training courses.
Question
Could you provide handouts with information on other training programmes?
Answer
Speakers from one of our partner organisations and a Routes to Work key worker are invited to the courses to provide information on the next available steps. They also bring leaflets on other opportunities available and a service guide for all participants.
Question
Can you provide more information on job search activities and applying for jobs?
Answer
Employment advice, jobsearch activities and interview techniques are now included in our programmes. Participants can also access additional support from their key worker.
Question
Could you consider including computing as part of the course syllabus?
Answer
Gaining access to a community venue with IT facilities to deliver our courses is difficult. Where possible we hire premises which have a computing suite. Alternatively you can access various computing packages through all NLC libraries as they now have an IT suite.
Question
Could the courses be longer?
Answer
Courses are short in terms of number of hours which participants attend on a weekly basis, as any longer it could affect people's entitlement to benefit. The number of weeks that the course is delivered over, is reviewed regularly and views of participants, tutors and those responsible for managing the course are taken into account.
Question
Could First Aid be included as part of the course?
Answer
We offer a qualification which best fits the course syllabus. If you secure employment which is subject to having a first aid certificate, then funding may be available to pay for this course.
Question
Could you include more confidence building in the course?
Answer
This is a recurring theme through most of our courses and we include an element of confidence building with activities to encourage positive thinking and boost self esteem.
