Achievement Dinner 08/09

LOCAL RESIDENTS HONOURED FOR WORKING ACHIEVEMENTS AT AWARDS DINNER

 
Several North Lanarkshire residents have been rewarded for their efforts in overcoming significant barriers to progress in the workplace.

Sharon Marshall, Laura Gordan, Alexander McGavin, Helen McGregor, Victoria Penman and Roseanne Bell, from Wishaw, Stephanie Sinclair of Coatbridge and Vicki Docherty of Bellshill were all presented with their North Lanarkshire’s Working Outstanding Achievement Awards at a ceremony on Thursday (11th June).
 
The six winners were among 19 people to receive awards at the ceremony after overcoming significant personal barriers to successfully enter the workplace, training or education.

Expanded Learning Opportunities

COATBRIDGE PUPILS SET FOR CAREER SUCCESS  

 
A group of pupils from Willowbank School in Coatbridge took an important step towards a career in catering and hospitality on Monday (June 8th).
 
Five Willowbank pupils were formally presented with City & Guilds qualifications in Hospitality after successfully completing 10 months of practical tuition in the Snapdragon restaurant at Cardinal Newman High in Bellshill.

Flexible Learning Initiative

AWARDS FOR MOTHERWELL’S TOP YOUNG LEARNERS

Several teenagers from Motherwell have received awards after taking part in a flexible learning programme aimed at keeping young people in education.
 
The pupils were among a group of 30 youngsters from across North Lanarkshire who were recognised for their achievements in the Flexible Learning Initiative at a ceremony at North Lanarkshire Council’s headquarters in Coatbridge on Wednesday (10th June).

ADULT LEARNING WEEK OFFERS KEYS TO CAREER SUCCESS

 
Unemployed people in Cumbernauld are being encouraged to build their skills during Adult Learners’ Week, which is running between Saturday 9th May and Friday 15th May.
 
North Lanarkshire’s Working is urging the long-term unemployed on Incapacity Benefit or Income Support, lone parents, and school-leavers to consider taking part in one of the many courses aimed at helping local people develop new skills and boost their chances of finding employment..
