Preparing for Your Future Course

One Parents Families Scotland has listened to lone parents about what matters to them and has responded by offering new programmes which will provide support to parents to prepare for the changes and challenges ahead.

By 2010 lone parents whose youngest child is seven years will be required to actively seek employment.  A new course for lone parents in North Lanarkshire aims to encourage and enable participants to believe in themselves, discover new talents, and take up new opportunities.

Routes to Work Appoint Older Workforce Adviser

Routes to Work have appointed Peter McCarroll in a new post to help assist people over 50 years old back into the workplace.  He will be primarily linking with groups and organisations that engage with this age group and from there linking individuals into the range of services that North Lanarkshire's Working can deliver, such as help with CVs, interview techniques, access to training and funding, and support for carers.  Peter can be contacted at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Bill Ledingham spent 12 years on Incapacity Benefit after injuring his back in a workplace accident. Last summer, he decided that he was ready to get back to work and visited his local Job Centre Plus to find out more about becoming a self-employed electrician.
